Pollution Prevention and Control and Environmental Permitting (click here to view case study)
The Pollution Prevention and Control (England and Wales) Regulations 2000 {Statutory Instrument 2000 no. 1973}, require companies to acquire a permit to carry out certain activities.

If the activities on your site are subject to these regulations then you are required to have a permit to operate. IPPC is a regulatory framework designed to control the environmental impacts across a wide range of industrial and agricultural activities. The aim is to Protect the environment as a whole and Promote the use of “clean technology” to minimise waste at source. From April 2008, the IPPC regulations will be replaced by the Environmental Permit regulations. An Environmental Permit covers both IPPC permits and Waste Management Licences.

With over 10 years experience in IPC and IPPC, Solvwaste Environmental Ltd can help you:

  • Develop your permit application
  • Produce your Site Report, Ground assessment and Site Protection and Monitoring Programme (SPMP).

Monitoring

VOC Monitoring (click here to view case study) VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) comprise a wide range of organic compounds. VOC’s are a concern because they can be harmful to the environment or to human health. If you are operating under the PPC Regulations or have concerns regarding workplace environment, we have the systems available to carry out monitoring across a wide range of applications that are validated to both Environmental and Health and Safety Legislation:

  • Diffusion systems
  • Grab sampling

Where practicable we can provide speciation of a mixture. All results are presented in a form to suit the application being monitored and in line with the regulations.

If you a have a VOC monitoring requirement, please contact us to discuss.

Noise Monitoring
The latest Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 (came into force 6/4/06) place a duty on employers to ensure that noise exposure levels are reduced to meet the new exposure limits and a specific requirement is placed on employers to ensure health surveillance is conducted. One of the major changes to the regulations is the reduction by 5dB of the exposure levels at which action has to be taken.

Solvwaste Environmental Ltd can help you:

  • Identifying what assessments are needed.
  • Assess occupational noise exposure levels and identify where and when employees are exposed to excessive noise levels.
  • Provide noise mapping services locating areas where noise control may be required.
  • Provide advice on suitable PPE and methods of protecting your employees from excessive noise.

Vibration Monitoring The control of vibration regulations 2005 limit the levels of vibration a person may be exposed to during a working day. They require employers to ensure that vibration exposures during the course of their business do not exceed maximum levels, to assess vibration levels and exposure times, and develop strategies to reduce vibration levels and exposures where appropriate.

The regulations also require that organisations ensure there is a system of health surveillance for all workers where there is a significant risk of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS).

Solvwaste Environmental Ltd can help you:

  • Assess vibration exposures
  • Carry out risk assessments
  • Develop strategies that reduce the risk of excessive vibration.
